Two days a week—and any night that promises to be below freezing—the team at LambsCroft Ministries opens up Garret Boyd Gym at Connection Pointe Church to shelter homeless men in Nashville. A stack of inflatable mattresses in the loft explains how this outreach program on Nolensville Pike came to be known as The Upper Room. On Christmas Day, the gym was the setting of Holidays for the Homeless. A dozen Foxes, Nelsons and Hawkinses participated, serving heaping plates of turkey, stuffing, sweet potatoes and pie prepared by Brett Richard Swayn and his crew at The Cookery - Nashville. When the meal concluded, one diner took the stage to perform an impromptu trumpet concert. It was the kind of musical moment we’ve come to expect in Nashville—on a Christmas we won’t forget. Thank you Brett and teams at The Cookery, Lambscroft and The Upper Room for allowing us to be part of this day.
