Two days ago I was fixing a problem with door lock for a lady and we were talking and she was telling me how she went from riches to rags. She use to be a nurse at the hospital my parents worked at and she had a nice home and things until she got MS.. I could tell this woman was more than average intelligence and she has her nursing degree.She cant walk and is in a wheel chair . She went on to say that Pete the manager told her I was a good worker and is very pleased at what I do .She said he told her I would be a good corporate long time employee.That same day Pete text me to go check the AC in a apartment and when I did the thermostat was not set right and it was not cooling plus it had a dirty filter . The thermostat was so old you could not read settings . No one was home at the time and it was time for me to get off and Pete told me not to be long working on it . By this time the tenants came home and they have 2 kids one being a 4 month old baby . I had everything I needed to fix the problem and I told Pete that there is no way I am leaving this apartment being over 80 degrees until I fix the problem and I am here to help weather you want to pay me or not . It took me about a hour and I staid until I new it was cooling. I get off at 5 pm and it was 6:30 when I left . I did not charge the overtime to my time sheet and yesterday I went back to check the AC and the thermostat was set at 72 and the room temperature was 72 . Tenants gave me a bottle of cold water and thank me. Knowing that I helped these people made me proud for what I do . It was 103 degree temperature that day .
