Two exceptional athletes training at the RAD centre with Lauren Atkinson and Kate Willey. Loz is a netballer and dominates the Ballarat Netball League with home club East Point, she is a key member to the Ballarat Sovereigns/Pride (VNL state league). Kate is talented basketballer who has played for the Ballarat Rush but currently represents the Geelong SuperCats in the SEABL. Highlights showing the session began with some basic landing mechanics before progressing into some explosive plyomentric drills moving both forward and lateral - court sport athlete needs to be able to move in all directions. The girls then showed their strength with the box squat - stronger athlete = quicker change of direction, higher vertical jump and increased speed around the court. Unilateral step up into arabesque - both athletes spend a lot of time during a game on one leg, this exercise is used to develop stability and proprioception for the ankle knee and hip, slow controlled movement, want to focus on activating the core and glutes to prevent hip from dropping. Palloff press forward and overhead used to develop strong trunk to assist in winning the contested ball and rebound. Finishing off with some conditioning on the abttlet ropes and the prowler sled. Solid session by the ladies! Both Loz and Kate putting in the hard work to prepare for a massive 2015 season! #RADcentre #GoPro #plyo #jump #squat #girlsthatlift
