Two great days facilitating the strategic planning session for AAA Colorado! Over the seven years that Ive worked with them, weve developed a process that really works well. Last month, the two top levels of management come together for a day. We explore trends that are impacting their industry (e.g., automobiles, roadside assistance, technology, generational differences, competition), possible impacts and ways to address them. We agree on the priority areas. They then have a month to develop priority goals, strategies and tactics. The team presents this over a half-day and there is a peer-to-peer discussion over lunch. Changes are made and then the team presents to a few Board members to get their feedback (which was today). Well make refinements and then present to the full Board next week. what a great team of professionals to work with! I learn so much every year about whats going in in this clients market. Connected cars that can access the Internet (scary thought!), the number of Millennials moving to CO and how many of them are opting not to own a car and rent by them by the hour instead (five Zipcar entities operating in Denver and Hertz & Enterprise in the game), what you can do with a AAA app on a phone, etc. Im so impressed that AAA CO offers bike roadside assistance as a benefit now and that hundreds of members have taken advantage of this benefit in the first few months! (If youre a member and on a bike, get to the nearest paved road, use your app or call AAA CO, and they will pick you and your bike up!)
