Two high school students from the Philippines bagged the 1st place award in the FedEx- Junior Achievement International Trade Challenge held on August 19 to 22, 2013 in Hong Kong. Pamela Frances T. Gaw and Katrina L. Chan, representing Immaculate Concepcion Academy Greenhills, were awarded the title of Entrepreneur of the Year during the three-day competition. The Philippine Team impressed the panel of judges with their innovative business proposal in response to this year’s challenge. The finalists were tasked with addressing the global issue of recycling materials by developing a new innovative product or service for the Argentinian market using reused jeans. The Philippine team came up with the concept of Eco-Gear, a set of recycled, durable and affordable sports equipment, including goalie gloves, a soccer ball and shin guards, targeting the soccer-loving Argentinians.
