Two huskies ran onto my land and went for my chickens. My sweet, gentle turkey who mothered all my chickens stayed back to defend her flock and was ripped apart by the dogs. My kids comforted her as the blood ran and she took gurgling breaths. The dogs went off running. I notified neighbors to keep pets inside. Same neighbors contacted me shortly after that they were running on their land. Well bred dogs with collars and stupid owners. Figure they are visitors. Never saw the dogs before. Most people I know around here would have shot the dogs. Sad. Conflicted. She was such a lovely bird who sacrificed herself like a true mama for her babes.
