Two local gardens will be open tomorrow and Friday as part of the Open Garden Scheme. The Bee Garden is the former Myrtlebank schoolhouse and is now an inspiring garden enveloped in colour and fragrance. Deep beds of glorious old fashioned roses, fine deciduous trees and borders of massed shrubs and perennials contribute to an impressive palette of colour and texture. Quirky sculptures from recycled materials are an added feature throughout the garden. Morning and afternoon tea will be available, along with a plant stall. Proceeds from the day will go to Heart Kids Victoria The property is located at 14 Back Maffra Rd, Sale (beside Sale Cemetery). Peta’s Garden is an outstanding Australian native garden showcasing an inspiring and well-designed floral display of wildflowers under a delicate canopy of casuarinas. Greens, silvers, greys and deep crimsons provide rich textural contrasts. Grasses, ground covers and a landscaped dam are a haven for wildlife. Proceeds will go to the Sale hospital. This garden is located at 14 Harpley Court, Longford (turn right from the Seaspray Rd opposite Longford General Store). The gardens will be open from 10am to 4.30pm, and admission will be $8.
