Two male passengers were ejected from a vehicle late Saturday afternoon in a single-car crash after the 18-year-old male driver lost control of the vehicle amid wet, icy road conditions and struck a tree, Suffolk County police said. Suffolk County Police Sixth Precinct officers responded to the crash on Sheep Pasture Road in Setauket about 4:03 p.m., police said.The driver and two passengers -- one of whom is 18 years old -- were taken to Stony Brook University Hospital with nonlife-threatening injuries, according to police. Sixth Squad detectives are continuing to investigate. Police would not say whether the driver or passengers were wearing seat belts. The Setauket Fire Department also responded to the crash at Sheep Pasture Road and Francis Street, said department Chief Thomas Makarius.The roads were icy at the time and I believe the [driver] lost control and ran off the road, said Makarius, adding that the roads were like slush. Good Samaritans were helping the crash victims when Makarius arrived at the scene, he said. Makarius said the car appeared to be totaled on the south side of the street and the two of those ejected from the car were on the north side of the street in bushes. He said the ejected individuals were taken to the hospital in serious condition. Makarius described a third passenger who wasnt ejected as walking wounded, meaning able to walk though hurt. That passenger was also taken to the hospital by Setauket Fire Rescue, Makarius said. No further information on the trios condition was immediately available Saturday evening.
