Two men have been arrested after police executed five warrants. Officers conducted the warrants yesterday (Wednesday, July 17) as part of an investigation into stolen goods and money laundering. A 31-year-old man was arrested at a house in Brunel Avenue, Newthorpe while a 35-year-old man was detained at a house in Claramount Road, Heanor. They were both arrested on suspicion of conspiracy to commit theft and money laundering. They were questioned and released on bail pending further inquiries. As part of the investigation, officers also carried out warrants at three more houses in Eastwood and Giltbrook. Police have recovered several high-value items of property and are investigating their origins. Detective Inspector Hayley Barnett said: “We rely on members of the public to be our eyes and ears in the community. “Do you have a neighbour who seems to be living beyond their means? Are they unemployed but drive expensive cars and take luxury holidays? “These people could be living off the proceeds of crime and I would urge you to contact us if you have any suspicions or concerns.” You can call Derbyshire Constabulary on 101 or Crimestoppers on 0800 555 111.
