Two men were arrested today in connection with a recent crime series in Mount Gambier. At 7am on Tuesday 21 October a Mount Gambier business was broken into and a white 2013 Ford Falcon utility was stolen. The vehicle was located by police in Doughty Street, Mount Gambier at about 9.15am that morning, loaded with furniture, electrical appliances and other household items stolen from a newly opened display home in Hume Court. Mount Gambier patrols and CIB detectives attended several Mount Gambier addresses today as part of the investigation into the crime series. A 29-year-old Mount Gambier man was found hiding in the roof space of one of the addresses and subsequently arrested. At that property, police allegedly located two stolen chainsaws and the keys to the stolen ute. The arrested man was charged with two counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, two counts of theft and illegal used. A 25-year-old Mount Gambier man sought by investigators was located walking on Bay Road, Mount Gambier this afternoon. After a short foot chase, he was arrested and charged with two counts of aggravated serious criminal trespass, four counts of theft, two counts of deception and breach of bail. Both men were refused police bail and will face court tomorrow.
