Two months ago the following story ran on KSBW featuring some of our TEC students that went to a leadership and technology camp over the summer. The Hispanic Heritage Fund heard about this and invited us to apply for a youth contest that recognizes 20 students from around the country that are using technology for the good of the community. Last night, we found out that our team of high school students were selected and invited to Washington DC to present to members of Congress, the White House Office of Science and Technology and industry leaders. We will be sending two of our students to DC in early December to present their college pathway app that they developed under the direction of the Global Information Internship Program (GIIP). This is very exciting for our students, program, and community! Our goal is to get this app in the hands of every student in PVUSD and this award is a big step in that direction. ksbw/news/central-california/santa-cruz/watsonville-teens-create-app-to-help-classmates-navigate-into-college/-/5738976/21806548/-/q32wt0z/-/index.html
