Two new Ambassadors present Letters of Credence to President Koroma By State House Communications Unit Their Excellencies, the newly appointed Ambassadors of Guinea, Fode Sorie Camara, and Ghana, Major General Carl Setorwu Modey, on Friday 29th August presented their letters of Credence to President Dr Ernest Bai Koroma at the Credentials Hall, State House, Freetown. Receiving the two Ambassadors in turn, President Koroma said that despite the challenges posed by the Ebola outbreak in the sub-region, Sierra Leone remains committed to continue strengthening the fraternal bonds within ECOWAS and the MRU. We shall continue to engage our sister republics to maintain, in very practical ways, their bonds of solidarity with countries that are at the frontlines of the fight against Ebola, President Koroma told the Guinean and Ghanaian Ambassadors. The President described the presentation of their credentials as a testament to the abiding faith that together ECOWAS countries will assert a destiny of well-being, peace, democracy and development in the sub-region. He was also quick to note that Ebola creates great fear and has already started challenging the usual bonds of support African countries lend to each other in times of difficulties. Ambassador Fode Sorie Camara assumes his new responsibilities at a time when the sub-region is being confronted with the deadly Ebola outbreak. He replaced Ambassador Mohamed Lamin Sompare who served in that position for close to a decade. On his part, High Commissioner Maj. Gen. Carl Modey replaced H.E. Elizabeth Mills Robertson who served in the same position for over three years. The ceremony was witnessed by the Hon. Vice President, Alhaji Chief Samuel Sam Sumana, Cabinet Ministers, and senior government officials, members of the Ministry of Foreign Affairs and International Cooperation protocol staff, and the State House Press Corps.
