Two of our older cats are refusing to use litter trays properly. One is urinating next to one of the trays. The other is defacating next to another of the trays. Its been happening for a few months now. Weve tried using different litter, adding new trays, using various deterrants on the carpet and mat. Theyre doing this no matter the state of tray cleanliness. We cant put trays in the areas theyre using, as theyre both in doorways. The one who is defacating outside the tray is Tigger. She has hyperthyroidism, treated with medication. She was doing it before she went missing. Presumably she is urinating in a tray. The one urinating on the mat is Tinker. She is on a sensitive diet because she had chronic pancreatitis - she vomits if she eats anything else. Presumably she is defacating in a tray. Theyre both 14yo, but not related. Ive covered all bases I can think of. What have I missed?
