Two of todays trees. The first one is laying down. The second one had a bad area of rot about 30 up. The shadows concealed it on this video, but I did a shameless selfie with it as I was cutting my way back down. This oak was about a 55 footer. There was no threat to structures, but it couldnt be dropped without snagging it in the adjoining trees. Since it had a bad lean... and I didnt feel like spur climbing it like an upside down opossum... I ascended it S.R.T.... Single Rope Technique. After ascending it, I switched to DbRT.... Double Rope Technique... to slice and dice the canopy and worked my way down about 1/3 of the way. I then rappelled down and photographed the remaining trunk before notching and dropping the remainder in the dark. The big rotten section made things a bit dicey as I dropped big chunks of the canopy, but it was a good day of climbing!
