Two paintings at Gallery Number Three right now which have inspired a sensual text from one of our curators! Looking at the moon, while warmth on your skin from a fireside in dotted and russet-coloured October. Looking back. Dappled light and shadows bouncing off warm, Greek stone. Juniper, cypress, oak and olive, a sleeping stray, the sun on its back. ... and heres a little background about these paintings: In Greek mythology, Vestas closest equivalent is Hestia. Vesta was Bridgets dog, named after the virgin goddess of hearth, home and family according to ancient roman religion. Sleeping Stray was one of many stray dogs in Athens that Martin saw, and felt drawn to paint on this occasion, when he travelled to Greece after being awarded the Barns-Graham Travel Award. Vesta Looking At The Moon Oil on Canvas. 10 x 14 £450 Unframed. Bridget Cox Sleeping Stray (Athens) Oil on Board. 90 x 125cm. £1800 Framed. Martin Hill
