Two people start by playing chess until one player knocks off all - TopicsExpress

Two people start by playing chess until one player knocks off all the pieces and slaps the other player... You wont let me play chess with you ever again? I dont care, it does not matter... One player thought he was playing chess, the other knew he was playing something else... One side sues in court, the other side perjures the record and buys up lawyers and judges... You thought the law must be practiced fairly? Well, its not... One army abides by the Geneva Convention, the other kills captured enemy soldiers and massacres civilians... In real conflicts, the parties may or, more importantly, may not agree upon the rules of the game... it is not even that they do not agree upon the rules of the game, the only rule may become that there are no rules... or, what comes to the same thing, that the rules keep changing as the conflict escalates... It then becomes a matter of which side can *outlast* the other... the winner is the last man standing... This may help explain why the mountains of mathematical game theory created in academia since and before Von Neumann, Nash et al seem to be so fruitless in explaining real practical human conflicts; Sun Tzus *Art of War* seems better.
