Two people were killed and two people injured in a car semi accident early Friday evening at the intersections of 140th Street and Ida Avenue in rural Wright County. The Iowa State Patrol reported a southbound 2007 Chevrolet Coupe driven by Dustin Schakelford of Houston, Texas struck an eastbound 2007 Mack truck driven by Travis Nickell of Goldfield. The Schackelford car struck and was lodged in the trailer of the wheel area of the semi trailer operated by Nickell and was drug east on 140th Street until the semi came to a stop. A passenger in the Schakelford car, 19 year old Frankie Miranda of Katy, Texas and a five year old child from Britt were killed in the accident. The name of the child has not been released. Another unidentified child,a two year old from Britt was taken to Iowa Specialty Hospital in Clarion for treatment of injuries. Schakelford was transported by Mercy Life Flight to Mercy North Iowa in Mason City for treatment of injuries. Nickell escaped injury in the Friday evening accident. The Hancock and Wright County Sheriffs Departments assisted the State Patrol at the accident scene.
