Two persons were reported killed in an alleged police firing while three others sustained injury when a demonstration turned violent in Manipur’s Ukhrul town, 84 km north of Imphal on Saturday. The incident took place during a confrontation between the police and demonstrators who are demanding settlement of the Indo-Naga issue and removal of prohibitory orders from Ukhrul town, reports reaching here said.In the skirmish, the demonstrators also set on fire one Bolero jeep belongs to Sub-divisional officer of the district and a police gypsy, reports added. Some police personnel were also sustained injury during the incident while five police personnel including officers were reportedly detained by the demonstrators. The deceased have been identified as R Kashing Vashi and R Mayopang both from Tuinem village, sources from hill town said while another seriously injured M Ngachoni of Somdal village is reportedly on way to hospital
