Two stories locally in Pahrump that wont go away are again in the news. And I suspect will be kicked around more before the year is through. The Rick Marshal/Sharon Wehrly sheriff race and the plight of the soon to be unemployed town manager. The town manager news article this week was a pity, poor me tear jerker, or at least that is how it was designed. The Pahrump Valley Times in my opinion, is pimping on behalf of the manager, pleading for relief for her as her time on the clock winds down. There was the part where she bemoans all the projects she as not completed....Im not sure why, she knew going in that the job could very well be temporary at best. And not to fret, the projects will be completed or not as the town and county go toward the future. I wish her well, but I dont hope and wish as the newspaper does, for her continued employment. About the cancer she has been fighting, we wish her a speedy recovery and feel bad that she has had to deal with the health issues involved. And we had the final judicial proceedings for under sheriff Rick Marshall, but not in the minds of many in the public apparently. Whenever Ricks name comes up, there is the barrage of piling on and holier than thou comments on message boards and around the water cooler. What I find amusing is that most people I know, and Im somewhat normal (sic), would have kicked some asses of those assassinating my character and good name. All Rick did, and the courts recognized it, was let his temper get away and he pulled up ten bucks worth of anti Rick signs. And for this the holy crowd believe a guy with 28 years experience in law enforcement and years in a management position, is not qualified to lead the department. Its one thing to say you dont like the guy and therefore will vote for his opponent, but come on...signgate was a staged trap and we all know it. Judge the candidates on their experience and ability to lead the department, not on a perfectly human reaction in a weak moment Anyway, thats the two big stories this week, next week this time we will be back in Pahrump after a summer on the road, and we will be digging deeper into the happenings. If you attend the government meetings, stop by and say high, Im the good looking dude in the front row of the council chambers.
