Two teenagers whose families are renting one of the villas near my home were fishing on the beach today and this sly little heron relieved them of the pin-fish that they were using as bait, emptying their bucket (and subsequently, getting a free lunch) when the young mens backs were turned. Of course, I quietly filmed part of the event for all of you (I love my iphone), then held in a laugh when the heron decided to pick a couple of holes in the teenagers fishing net. Toward the end, there was a resounding oh no at the realization that all the pin fish were gone and that a heron was apparently vandalizing their fishing gear. It actually would have been a priceless moment had it not been for the poor pin-fish being eaten...
