Two things, right quick: Ive always felt that my favorite song of all time is Bruce Springsteens Thunder Road. But this, this just might be tied with it now. Every time I hear this song I like it more -- and Ive been liking it since it first came out back in 1980 on Dire Straits Making Movies album. This is a great version, despite the band still wearing its 80s duds and haircuts in 1993. Lastly (and this is a bit negative), listen for the crowd cheering every time the song slows down to where Mark Knopfler says Juliet. They think the song is over because the song gets quiet at that point each time. Idiots. Probably the only DS song they know is Money For Nothing. Anyway, it backs up my long-held theory -- for YEARS, audiences have been so self-absorbed that they only know to applaud the silence following the songs. They arent cheering the song, theyre reacting like Pavlovs dogs to the silence. Again, idiots.
