Two thirds of all employees working for corporate franchises are women whose earnings are minimum wages without benefits. We know the costs of a college degree via public and private higher educational institutions has increased and the labor market reports indicate unemployment claims is decreasing. Probably has something to do with retirees returning to work as well as high school dropouts and college grads competing for jobs as well as the fact that some people have altogether stopped searching for jobs that dont offer them good pay, benefits or opportunities for advancement. If minimum wage employees are offered real opportunities for advancement, shouldnt we consider raising the minimum wage as well? This allowance would ultimately create a more affordable educational solution/options to an huge segment of society where women are not receiving equal pay, nor are they given opportunities their male counterparts have access to under the status quo continuum. Public schools are maximizing the benefits of grants; 40% are REAPing these monies without reverence for quality teachers whose unions present an additional burdensome scenario. Why dont we let our public schools work with private entities without jeopardizing students performances on standardized testing? yorkdispatch/penn/ci_24878600/pittsburgh-schools-gates-grant-jeopardy
