Two v important global political events just happened, one was the Geneva nuclear deal with Iran and the other was the US Democrats voting to get rid of the filibuster for presidential candidates and their plan to change it for Laws as well. The filibuster has been used by Republicans, especially the Tea Party, to try and stop many of Obamas domestic policies. It was the rejection of the gun law Bill last year even though 55 out of the 100 senators voted for it that pushed many into taking some real action to allow government function. The Republican extremism has created a counter balance of more Left Wing Democrat Senators like Elizabet Warren whose stance that strong government should take on big corporations and make high earners pay more taxes instead of the poor being battered as is presently the case is gaining traction in such a fragmented society. US politics has been in the centre for too long, Bush/Cheney pushed it to the Right and it now looks like it is swinging to the Left. These are truly interesting times.
