Firefighters were called to Lincoln Haulage’s yard on the Market Place Industrial Estate in Houghton, Sunderland at around 10.45am yesterday. A spokeswoman for Tyne and Wear Fire and Rescue Service revealed that both a Volvo truck and a Ford Transit flatbed were damaged in the blaze. Half of its building was also “severely damaged”, with some heat and smoke damage to the rest of the site.
