Two weeks and one day since my fall and the resulting broken - TopicsExpress

Two weeks and one day since my fall and the resulting broken wrist. I saw the surgeons assistant today and now have a smaller cast...actually a removable splint. I can bathe and shower now! Yippppeeeeee! And driving is so much easier without an arm that weighs three times what it should. But, when I asked if I could start wiring my crafts, I was told Not yet. Its OK. I might try using my mom as my left hand as see how things go...or maybe not. Funny thing is, I cant say I have terrible regrets that this happened. So many positives! I have learned how wonderful, generous, and understanding my friends and family can be, and are. I have finally made an attempt to record in writing the beliefs and convictions that help define the person that I am today...which is, in some ways, the person Ive always been, and in other ways, is a completely new person. Life is certainly an adventure! My accident has been a learning experience in so many ways. I have learned what its like to live with a minor disability, and I now realize how challenging life must be for those with more serious disabilities. I admire those who have found ways to achieve great things despite their disabilities so much more than I did before my accident! Ive learned how much I can do without the use of my non-dominant hand and arm. And Ive also learned how much we unconsciously depend on our non-dominant hand to accomplish simple tasks, when both hands and limbs are healthy. All in all, it is amazing to me that my teeth, arm, leg, and knee can sometimes compensate for the bum hand and wrist.. If nothing else, we humans are adaptable. We really are marvels of evolution...or of God, if you are a believer. Ive learned that friends and family who I feared would defect when they learned of my atheism have been, overwhelmingly, understanding and supportive! I am blessed. Thank you all! :-)
