Two years after the GTA Spano first made head turns at the 2011 - TopicsExpress

Two years after the GTA Spano first made head turns at the 2011 Geneva Motor Show, the Spanish supercar is returning to Geneva with a new name and a production guise that will more than likely go on sale sooner than later. The buzz surrounding the Spano’s attendance at Geneva was ratcheted up a few notches after Spania GTA released a shadowy teaser image of the supercar on its site with the words "Coming Soon..." That’s about as exciting as it gets. One of the things that made the Spano a showstopper two years ago was the comprehensive supercar package that it came with, highlighted by an 8.3-liter supercharged V-10 Bioethanol engine that produced 820 horsepower and 708 pound-feet of torque. Well, here’s some interesting news: word has it that the production Spano will once again feature the same 8.3-liter supercharged V-10 engine, except that the Spania GTA has increased the output to a stout 900 horsepower and 737 pound-feet of torque. Despite the improved output, Spania GTA appears to be taking a cautious approach with the performance numbers of the Spano, saying that the supercar can hit 100 km/h (62 mph) in 2.9 seconds with a top speed of 217 mph. We’ve got no problems with that 0-to-100 km/h time, but that 217 mph top speed seems a bit conservative for a car that comes with 900 horses. In any case, we’ll find out more about the Spano when Spania GTA officially pulls the covers off of the supercar at Geneva next month.
