Two years ago, I left an abusive marriage. My husband refused to give me any of our Christmas decorations including the childrens Christmas stockings. I had bins stored in our basement packed full of Christmas decor. Our first tree in our new home was pathetic, or so I thought. It had white lights, colored lights and a cheap Santa hat that I threw on top. Everytime I looked at the tree I saw chaos. It was symbolic of my life at the time. Last year, my daughter Janel and I made homemade ornaments. There was something so pure about it. The tree seemed to ooze with love. Sounds crazy, I know. It had a profound effect on me. I keep things very simple now. Here is a great idea for tree ornaments, a simple gift or use it to decorate a gift bag (a branch tied with ribbon). Is it really about what we buy? Or is the gift from the heart more meaningful? Be safe today. I am working on a wreath made from music sheets. Will post when Im done.
