Two years ago I was fortunate enough to work at the African Refugee Development Centre in Tel Aviv. Primarily with women and children who have suffered horrific, unfathomable trauma in the Sudan. On one of the days, some of the little girls I was looking after spied my cosmetic bag on my desk and asked if they could play. Playing with the makeup brought so much joy to them. For the first time since working there, their faces lit up- way more than story time or musical chairs. The girls gave each other and myself makeovers. When I try to explain to others why makeup is empowering they just don’t get it. This picture says it all. Regardless of age, gender or ethnicity- makeup makes the world a better place and really does make people happy! Makeup artists dont get the credit they deserve for empowering others. BTW- Their fave lipstick is Fabby by MAC. They also like Nars Laguna :)
