Two years ago, a certain dog named Sindy was formally adopted by me. She was transported from Miami up to the St pete area to be adopted by a family who had previously adopted from GGARR. She only stayed one day with them and they were calling saying they wanted to return her due to her not listening and kept trying to run out the door. Stated They couldnt handle her. Mind you , they only had her ONE DAY. So she came to foster with me. And she never left. I didnt find a dog that didnt listen , because she does listen well. Instead I found a dog who can be very dominant/demanding/pushy but at the same so very loving and sweet. So for them to say they couldnt handle her , I can sorta understand it if you were not use to type A personality that she was. She NEEDS a strong leader. They apparently could not give it. Then again they only had her one day .Ironically at a dog event shortly after I formally adopted her , I meet her previous adopters. The lady was like , yeah i couldnt control etc.. I said well you missed out on a great dog since you didnt want to give to chance or make an effort. . Sindy was at one time in her former life trained. This dog knows not to pass the threshold of the fence or door unless given permission. She sits on dime on walks , does left/right turns..i could go on. Can she be difficult? Of course. But Ive worked on it with her since she does want to please plus she is a beast. VERY STRONG girl. Her training is and will always be ongoing. So happy Anniversary Gotcha day Sindy!!
