Two years ago today - I was as close as you could get to a hurricane off the coast of New Jersey. Seaside Heights took the brunt of the storm - so did our crew. We almost didnt make it off the barrier island. In the following months and year - I did story after story about the people along the coast who lost so much. I met amazing, resilient, people who are truly Jersey Strong! A year after that - a horrific fire in the very same spot that took what was left. No community should ever have to go through that. I toured the damage with Governor Christie - and was there when he took a call from President Obama. No one could believe what they were seeing. Houses barely left standing - so many just gone. A roller coaster in the ocean?? On this day each year my thoughts are overwhelmingly with those who, today are still trying to recover - and some who really never will. I live in Boston now - but on October 29th - my heart is always with you. In the Tri State. Here are some of the pictures I took back then.
