Two years ago today, my dad passed away. He lived to be 94 - lived a decade past my mom - and truly died of old age, meaning when he was ready to go, he went. My dad grew up in the Its a Wonderful Life era, and he always had the neatest stories to share. One was when he was a young man, and he saw a woman drive off the road into the water. He dove in to save her - and he did. He got home and got scolded by his mother for getting his best suit wet, and ruining the pen he had in his jacket pocket. In his last year, he came to total peace. We spoke as I was driving home from my 25 year college reunion in June 2012, and he told me he was glad he had gone to Tufts. In his day, he was an engineer and also admitted to Harvard and MIT - but those schools costed around $450 per year for commuters while Tufts was $250. He told me that a Tufts professor had him work at the Navy shipyard during WW2 as my sisters were born. Otherwise, they may not have been here - or may have he. Its a wonderful life. Love you dad and miss you.
