Tyler Southern was raised in Jacksonville, Florida. In 2007 he joined the Marine Corps at age 17. After training he was attached to 1st Battalion 2nd Marines, where he deployed to both Iraq and Afghanistan. On May 5th 2010, while on the Afghanistan deployment, he stepped on the pressure plate of a 10lbs victim operated IED resulting in the immediate loss of three limbs . After two and a half years rehabbing at Bethesda Naval Hospital, he medically retired on September 21, 2012. July 9, 2011 he married his best friend, the beautiful Ashley Southern and January 1 2014 she gave birth to their first son Damon Cole. His hope for the future is to raise 3 wonderful children with the love of his life, work with heroes, spread awareness for the wounded, remember and honor the Fallen. Tyler is an Ambassador for Wounded Wear and we are honored to have him attend and skydive at Jumping for a Purpose!
