The tender process for the West Gate Distributor process will begin in up to six weeks as Labor pledges to keep its promise building will begin in their first six months of government. Mr Andrews labelled criticisms of the proposal “absolute rubbish” today after industry experts raised concern it would not stop congestion on the West Gate Bridge. To add to concern Mr Andrews said basic information was not yet known, including where ramps would be built, how many houses would be lost and whether sound barriers would be erected. Mr Andrews stressed residents affected would be treated respectfully after the design bidding, despite the hurried process. Local councils have said the new major road project will not fix the city’s traffic woes and could create a bottleneck in the inner west.
