U NEED TO MAKE A FRESH START The LORD our God spake unto us in Horeb, saying, Ye have dwelt long enough in this mount: 7 Turn you, and take your journey, and go to the mount of the Amorites, and unto all the places nigh thereunto, in the plain, in the hills, and in the vale, and in the south, and by the sea side, to the land of the Canaanites, and unto Lebanon, unto the great river, the river Euphrates. 8 Behold, I have set the land before you: go in and possess the land which the LORD sware unto your fathers, Abraham, Isaac, and Jacob, to give unto them and to their seed after them. (Deuteronomy 1:6-8) Success and failure are on each side of the scale of life. In other words, they are two unfriendly opposites on the balance scale of every person including God’s children. They are two living enemies that can never agree because each of them wants to have upper hand expression. Success wants to be noticed as being relevant while failure wants also to paint a bigger picture on anyone who gives it access and accommodation based on choice and determination. Either success or failure can be permanent or temporal depending on the individual who gives them room for free expression and hands of fellowship. People say, no condition is permanent but any ugly condition you do nothing about to change or alter will become a permanent yoke of bondage. The greatest and quickest way to stay away from failure, and not allow it remain to rule and have mastery over you is to be ready to MAKE A FRESH START. Never be afraid of failure, neither be too anxious to succeed. You are not the first and you would not be the last to fail. You can start all over from where you have failed and fallen to rise and walk back into success. Success is not just for those who work very hard, but those who refuse to give up, give in, thrown in the towel but are bold enough for a fresh start. If there was no room for mistake there wouldn’t have been any need for an eraser. Every computer has a DELETE option because there is bound to be a mistake. I have told us severally that life has three stages namely; The PAST which is the starting or stepping stone in life, the PRESENT which is now and the FUTURE which is your prepared place or the place of welcome. What you do with your past and present determines what happens in your future. A great number of people are in the past, hence their inability to let go of the past and go beyond the past by making a fresh start against the back drop of the past failures. YOU NEED TO MAKE A FRESH START FOR THERE ARE BETTER DAYS, BETTER OPTIONS AND BIGGER PICTURES AHEAD. • DO NOT CONCLUDE OR RESIGN IN A HASTE There is a star in every disaster; there is trophy in every catastrophe and trouble; there is polishing in every punishment, there is insight in every insult; there is construction in every destruction; there is appointment in every disappointment; there is a message and miracle in every mess; there is sense in every nonsense, there is something in every nothing… there is an atonement and anointing in every attack, there is glory in every story…there is rest in your restlessness if you will but make a fresh start… WHAT DOES IT MEAN TO MAKE A FRESH START? And he said, A certain man had two sons: 12 And the younger of them said to his father, Father, give me the portion of goods that falleth to me. And he divided unto them his living. 13 And not many days after the younger son gathered all together, and took his journey into a far country, and there wasted his substance with riotous living. 14 And when he had spent all, there arose a mighty famine in that land; and he began to be in want. 15 And he went and joined himself to a citizen of that country; and he sent him into his fields to feed swine. 16 And he would fain have filled his belly with the husks that the swine did eat: and no man gave unto him. 17 And when he came to himself, he said, How many hired servants of my fathers have bread enough and to spare, and I perish with hunger! 18 I will arise and go to my father, and will say unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and before thee, 19 And am no more worthy to be called thy son: make me as one of thy hired servants. 20 And he arose, and came to his father. But when he was yet a great way off, his father saw him, and had compassion, and ran, and fell on his neck, and kissed him. 21 And the son said unto him, Father, I have sinned against heaven, and in thy sight, and am no more worthy to be called thy son. 22 But the father said to his servants, Bring forth the best robe, and put it on him; and put a ring on his hand, and shoes on his feet: 23 And bring hither the fatted calf, and kill it; and let us eat, and be merry: 24 For this my son was dead, and is alive again; he was lost, and is found. And they began to be merry. Luke 15:11-24 • INSTEAD OF DEFEAT, REPEAT It is better to repeat and go through the whole process all over than to be defeated. Every working machine has a start button and you cannot get the equipment started from the middle, this implies that if there is an error in operation, switch it off and start all over again from the start button, of course after reading the manual carefully and properly. To make a fresh start means to repeat. In other words, you have not failed yet or submitted to defeat, failure, despair, discouragement, discontentment but pressing forward to reconcile the matter as to attaining your goal. All the great achievers in life failed but they repeated by making a fresh start. That is what the scripture above is revealing about the prodigal son. He started wrongly, and found himself in a serious mess, but because he was ready to make a fresh start by returning home, he was celebrated and enjoyed what he never enjoyed in his father’s house before. Did you notice in vs. 20 that his father had been expecting him to come back home? In vs. 22 when he made confession and repentance the father neither reproved him nor recalled the matter, he rather gave the servants instructions to change his garment and prepare a feast for him to be celebrated. What kind of mountain have you been struggling with for so long? You need to make a fresh start for your successful journey to your prepared place! -BY APOSTLE EZEKIEL EMMANUEL DUKE For questions/enquiries, call: +2348033125516, +2348033103895, or +2347036872318.
