U.S. Navy Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician David Blake - TopicsExpress

U.S. Navy Senior Chief Cryptologic Technician David Blake McLendon, 30, of Thomasville, Georgia, assigned to Naval Special Warfare Group 2 Support Activity in Norfolk, Virginia, was killed September 21, 2010, in a helicopter crash during combat operations in the Zabul province of Afghanistan. McLendon is survived by his wife Kate McLendon, his parents David and Mary-Ann McLendon, his brother Chris McLendon, and his sister Kelly Lockman. For the first time in 3.5 years no one besides me showed up to a class. I couldve just went home, but I didnt. Why? Because Blakes wife would probably give anything for just one more day and one more hug and who the hell am I to walk away from honoring him....and her. He was 30 years old when he was killed...makes me sick when people get mad about getting older....you know a lot of people would love the chance and blessing of getting older. This wod scared me...thats why I showed up. I had to modify but I showed up and I fought. Fought for 36 minutes and 38 seconds. Kara counted each rep and reminded me I could do this... I dont look like an elite athlete, I still fight to judge myself based on my size...but damn it if Im not happy and never gonna back down from the fight. One year ago I would never have posted these pictures because I was unhappy about how I looked-- Today posting these proudly because I keep showing up and I wont stop fighting.
