U.S.: Obama fails to migrants L a situation created by the massive influx of undocumented children to the United States in recent months has shown indolence and lack of capacity of the Obama administration to understand and handle an emergency that has been described as humanitarian crisis. Last Friday, in a meeting with the presidents Otto Perez of Guatemala; Salvador Sanchez Ceren, in El Salvador, and Juan Orlando Hernandez of Honduras, convened by Obama at the White House, the U.S. president said the situation of migrant children reflects a shared responsibility; asked the Central American governments to adopt measures to discourage the migration flow and warned that his country has great compassion for these children, those who have no reason to stay will be deported. Such remarks are an act of monumental arrogance and political insensitivity, and exhibit-pass-a distorted view of migration: beyond the faults and omissions of national authorities in Mexico and Central America to prevent the expulsion of thousands of its citizens, structural roots to migration from Guatemala, El Salvador, Honduras and our country to the United States is the misery, violence and, in general, the lack of prospects for living, working and safety affecting much of the population in these countries brothers. In shaping these conditions, Washington has a huge historical responsibility for its policies of interference, impulse-oligarchic dictatorships in the case of the Central American nations, and war and economic predation. In recent years, moreover, the respective American embassies have imposed on the governments in the region and security policies to combat drug trafficking crime that caused explosions of violence that stand in an additional spur to the mass exodus of citizens from their environments ori
