U.S PRESIDENT BARACK OBAMA MEETING WITH AFRICAN LEADERS; A DIPLOMATIC SHENANIGANS PAR EXCELLENCE: The President of d United States of America is currently having series of meetings with African leaders in Washington, ostensibly to better d lots of African people. The question that should be on d lips of we Africans is, Since when has Africa & Africans become so important in d sights of d Americans as to warrant genuine humanitarian consideration, with no strings attached, from American leaders? This question is in order, when we consider d American foreign policy approaches. Consistently, American foreign policy since d 19th century has always been taking different approaches to different areas of d world. In relation to Europe, seat of d dominant world powers, d American policymakers have been promoting trade and have also been trying to avoid diplomatic rancours. In North & South America they based their policy on d Monroe Doctrine that forbids European powers from intruding into d American continent. We should not be surprised if U.S revives its dream of annexing Canada & Mexico, just as it annexed Hawaii after de-throning d native Hawaian Queen Liliuokalani in 1893. By annexing Canada & Mexico, America may hope to gain extensive trade, and secure Pan-American unity against d nations of Europe, Japan, China & emerging Asian giants that are taking American trade away, which precipitated this wise meetings with African leaders. To be sure, d Americans coveted Africas very valuable but cheap resources. The Americans way of getting what they coveted is to pretend as if doing d owners great favour, and then use their time-honoured diplomatic skill to wrench d resources from d owners. American Secretary of State William Henry Seaward, who served from 1861 - 1869, aggressively pushed an expansive foreign policy. Give me 30 to 50 yrs more of life, he once told a Boston audience in 1867, and I will give you possession of d American continent & control of d world. Seaward developed a vision of an American empire.
