U.S. taxpayers are on the hook for a lot more than what they file on their annual tax returns. The trillions of dollars of debt that our federal government has incurred has forced the U.S. Treasury to allocate hundreds of billions of dollars in interest payments every year from the tax revenues they receive from American citizens. It is an unsustainable financial arrangement in which the per-taxpayer share of the national debt inevitably keeps growing. - Joe
