U.S. violent and property crime rates declined in 2013 after two consecutive years of increases The overall violent crime rate declined slightly from 26.1 victimizations per 1,000 U.S. residents in 2012 to 23.2 in 2013, after two years of increases. The overall property crime rate also decreased, from 155.8 victimizations per 1,000 U.S. households in 2012 to 131.4 per 1,000 in 2013. Read more in Criminal Victimization, 2013 (NCJ 247648).
