U21 Competition Naomh Mairtin 0-12, O’Connell’s/Stabannon/J. Mitchells 4-7 They say goals win games and the two the combination side got in the second from Cian Doyle and Robert Quigley was the difference between the sides. Having gone into a 1-2 to 0-1 lead with the goal coming from Conor Kiernan the Mairtins hit back with the next four points to level the game. Quigley then had the ball in the net for the visitors only for the referee to call back play and award a penalty which was brilliantly saved by the home keeper, but taker Doyle collected the rebound and made no mistake blasting to the net. Quigley added another point but the Mairtins replied with the next three points and were only one behind at the break 0-8 to 2-3. The sides shared the first two points of the second half but the visitors then landed a point from Quigley and their third goal of the game from Doyle to go five clear. The home team reduced that to three before a Conor Reilly point and a goal from Quigley sealed the victory for the combination team but they were pushed all the way by home side. O’Connell’s/Stabannon/J. Mitchells: John McLoughlin; Peter Lynch, Micheal Cairns, Mitchell Keenan; Thomas Campbell, Andrew Sharkey, David Hoey; Colm Giggins, Ciaran O’Brien; Daniel Bannon, Cian Doyle 2-0, Aaron Keeley; Robert Quigley 1-6(5f), Conor Kiernan 1-0, Emmet Byrne. Subs Conor Reilly 0-1 for Byrne, Dean Corrigan for Kiernan, Emmet Byrne for Keeley, Conal Keenan for Hoey. U21 Competition Naomh Mairtin 0-12, O’Connell’s/Stabannon/J.
