U3A STATE CONFERENCE HOSTED BY U3A REDLANDS A GREAT SUCCESS. The state conference, aptly named A REDLANDS RENDEZVOUS, was held at the Redlands Community Centre in Cleveland on Tuesday and Wednesday this week and was attended by delegates from U3As as far away as Atherton Tablelands and Roma. Of the 26 U3As affiliated with Network Queensland 24 attended the conference and were treated to 2 days of great speakers, great ideas and everyone went away from the conference with renewed enthusiasm for the future of, not only their own U3A, but confident that the U3A movement as a whole is well prepared for the future. An exciting announcement was made by Rhonda Weston, President of Network Queensland as well as President of U3A Toowoomba and now the current Chair of the U3A Australian Alliance, that an International conference of the Asia Pacific Alliance will be held in Brisbane on the 28th & 29th May 2015. This conference is to be held in the newly renovated Brisbane City Hall which should be a fitting venue for such a prestigious event. A special thank you should also be extended to Julie Porteous, President of Redlands U3A and her team for organising such a well run conference. Their efforts were magnificent and the result was fantastic. Julie is now off on a 2 month European holiday which she richly deserves.
