UCA ACTIVITIES FOR THE WEEK ENDING ON SUNDAY 12TH OCTOBER 2014: Cricket Without Boundary Project (CWB) Cricket Without Boundaries (CWB) a UK charity organization has for the last nine years partnered with Uganda Cricket Association in the spread of Cricket around the Nation. After three(3) successful visits in Kamuli, Lugazi and Masindi districts the Team conducted Teacher Coaching Courses & School Coaching visits of which they harnessed the newly trained coaches into School coaching as they incorporate with HIV/AIDS awareness messages. On top of School coaching, the team has engaged in community social responsibility programs by visiting Hospitals and Orphanages in these Areas. The team departed to day 8th October 2014, we wish them a safe journey back home. The Association is pleased to have this mutual partnership with CWB and looks at strengthening it more and more for the future programs. Mehta Premier League (Women’s T20) Last weekend on Saturday 4th October 2014, the Mehta Premier league commenced. Two games were played at Lugogo Cricket Oval where Charity TF CC took on Wanderers CC in the first game of the Mehta Premier League T20 season and in the afternoon Charity TF CC played against Tornado CC. During the morning game Charity TF CC scored 66/6 in 14 overs and in return Wanderers CC managed 33/10 in 12 overs. In the afternoon match Tornado CC beat Charity TF CC by 5 wickets after Charity scoring 97 runs for 10 in 18.2 0vers.Action Continues at Kyambogo and Jinja Ovals as the Nation celebrates Independence on Thursday and on Saturday 11th October, at Jinja Oval. Last weekend, the most interesting matches took place at Lugogo and Jinja Cricket Ovals. At Lugogo, Nile CC had an opening partnership of 129 runs before the loss of the first wicket the aftermath was a total of 189 runs for 9 in 46.5 overs as Nile CC fielded 10 players. Challengers CC won the encounter with a wicket to spare in 48.5 overs. At Jinja Oval, loads and loads of runs were scored in a game were Charity TF CC took on Rounders CC. Charity TF CC scored a total of 414 runs for 6 in 40 overs, Jonathan Sebanja steering his side by scoring his career best of 161 from 70 balls. Rounders retaliated with a total of 310 runs for 8 wickets in 40 overs. Varinder Singh of rounders scoring his 2nd century in just 8 days after his first century against Challengers CC. Varinder singh compiled 135 runs from 99 balls.
