UCSD’s First Ever Online Student Film Festival Please donate at ift.tt/15hGE0h Who are we? Up&Coming Wired is a quarterly virtual theater space curated by UCSD students for the UCSD community and beyond. This online film festival is a brand new feature of the ArtPower! Annual Up&Coming Student Film Festival, now going into its 8th year! There are many film festivals all over the world, but not very many online student film festivals. ArtPower! has created a unique screening forum to provide an encouraging space for UCSD’s emerging filmmakers, from all disciplines. By supporting our UCSD filmmaking community, you support a dream that can turn into a reality. This is a place for talented students to get their work seen! Select films, juried by a UCSD student panel, will be featured and aired on UCSD TV broadcast television once per quarter. Everyone benefits! When a student submits work to Up&Coming Wired, they benefit from including new networking opportunities, encouragement to pursue their dreams, and finding like-minded thinkers and creators. When you support a student, you create opportunities for individual expression and career advancement. Testimonials from UCSD Up&Coming students No one else on campus provides the engaging and inspiring connection to what is happening in the film world as successfully as ArtPower! Film does. -Hieu Tran, UCSD 12 “Thank you for putting together a wonderful festival and going above and beyond! Im glad I was able to watch what my talented peers have poured their hearts into.” ---Tommy T. Do, UCSD 14 “The experience [of submitting work to Up&Coming] was really valuable.” - Monika Lang 12 Why is this important? Submitting work to a festival provides real world experience. All entries are seen by invited industry professionals – you never know who will be looking at a student’s work! Selected entries are curated for UCSD broadcast TV, providing yet more chances for the selected films to be seen by someone who is interested in your unique skill set and voice. Awards for Best Film include a lunch with an industry professional, enrollment in a high-level workshop, equipment, and more! For the filmmaker with big ideas for a future in feature filmmaking, making short films is a practice in brevity. Good storytelling is about distilling ideas into something distinctly cinematic. Making good shorts hones your skills. Up&Coming Wired provides the place and space for past and present UCSD students to spread their wings by building experience and making connections. Help spread the word! Please join us in our efforts to support the mission of Up&Coming Wired by sharing this project with your networks. With your help, we can provide aspiring filmmakers with the experience, opportunities, and community they need to be successful in pursuing their passion. Check us out on Facebook (Provide appropriate link here) and Twitter (if you have one!). We’d also like to thank our campus partners UCSD TV and the Media Lab. Thank you for your support, and we look forward to sharing some exciting updates with you along this journey! 2014 FALL QUARTER SCHEDULE November 19: Final deadline for submissions December 6 at 8pm: Selected films air on UCSD TV and available in Up&Coming Wired _______ FOLLOW LIPSapp Classic Radio _______ FB: r-js/1vz7Pcz / TW: r-js/1kHd2Qt / Listen to LIPSapp Classic Radio r-js/1dOIQ18 #classicrock #rollingstones #ledzeppelin #santana #eagles #zztop #thewho #beatles #elvis #jimihendrix #dylan #acdc #michaeljackson #pinkfloyd #madonna #u2
