UDOM EMMANUEL: FAVOURED BY GOD; LOVED BY THE PEOPLE Joseph Okon The recent Political Developments in Akwa Ibom State has confirmed the saying that Whom God has blessed, no one can curse. This shows that when God’s favour is upon a man, it will inspire and ignite people’s love for him. Like the little Samuel of old grew on, he was in favour both with God and also with men which he later became a great leader of the people. Today, it has become an open secret that Mr Udom Emmanuel, the Secretary to Akwa Ibom State Government is favoured by God and loved by the people, this is evidence in the mammoth crowed of friends, admirers, supporters and loved ones all over Akwa Ibom State and outside the state now persuading him to join the 2015 governorship race in Akwa Ibom. Because the favour of God and the love of men are upon him, everything he engaged in politically and otherwise seems to work in his favour to manifest God’s favour upon him. As a destined leader by God, he has come at the right time, from the right Senatorial District and Federal Constituency, and Local Government to produce the next Governor of Akwa Ibom state, coupled with his experience and expertise in industrialization which makes him the right man and the answer for Akwa Ibom industrial revolution. The SSG is undoubtedly a perfect example of a man of faith, hardworking, patience, integrity, and self-sacrifice through his long and trying career in the banking sector which he raised to the peak or zenith of his profession in the cooperate world without blemish. Some people who before now were against him are now his friends. They are now calling on him to contest the 2015 Governorship election in Akwa Ibom state. The echo is louder and stronger across the 31 Local Government Areas of the state owing to their convictions that there cannot be a better person than Udom Gabriel Emmanuel to govern the state as Governor. To so many people in Akwa Ibom state, Udom’s 2015 Governorship project is a child of necessity and a must accomplished task that is coming at the right time when the state is in dying need of industrialization to take care of the ever increasing population of job seekers in Akwa Ibom. Like Samuel, David, and Joseph of old, Udom Emmanuel is a man who has destiny of leadership with God which he is favoured by God and men in all things. Like Moses, he left the land of his birth at a tender age to acquire the experience and skills that will help him fulfil this divined ordination by God which he has been fortified for by experience, professionalism, and capacity to come and rescue Akwa Ibom state industrially. His many years of experience in the private sector had greatly prepared the SSG which he perfectly fit into the leadership of Akwa Ibom state. His good leadership qualities of gentleness, humility, hard work, resourcefulness, capacity to deliver, and loyalty to authorities have greatly endeared the Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio to him, and the Governor have found in Udom Emmanuel a competent, trusted, result oriented, effective, and experienced team player in administering good governance to the people. This is why even the few ones who are against the governorship ambition of the SSG have not been able to fault his effectiveness and competency to massively industrialize Akwa Ibom state. These have further confirmed the submission of Mr Jim Ovia, the founder of Zenith Bank Plc and CEO of Quantum Energy Limited who described Udom Emmanuel as a blessing to Akwa Ibom state. He said this recently during the foundation laying for the construction of a Methanol Petrochemical industry plant by President Goodluck Jonathan which became real through the instrumentality of Mr Udom Emmanuel. Today, nobody in Akwa Ibom can doubt or argue the competency and capacity of the SSG to industrialize this state including his opponents which they have come to terms with the fact that Akwa Ibom people needs a Governor that will industrialize the state, and not a governor who will use the resources of the state to fund cult groups and promote lawlessness. With the recent foundation laying for the construction of Petrochemical Industry in Ibeno within one year in office, Udom Emmanuel has put himself ahead of every other aspirants for the 2015 governorship election in the state which he is now widely regarded by many as the only option and alternative to Akwa Ibom industrial revolution. He has successfully kicked out every other aspirants in the race and rendered them useless through his superlative performance being knowledgeable and experienced in the area of industrialization. He has come and raise the bar and standard of governance beyond the competency and capacity of his opponents through his well-articulated industrial master plan for Akwa Ibom state, his opponents have come to realized that it will not be business as usual since the only language in the state now is industrialization as championed by Udom Emmanuel. They are now imitating the SSG with false promises of prioritizing industrialization if elected. But come to think of it, how can a man who has served the state as the chairman of Akwa Ibom Investment and Industrial Promotions Council (AKIIPOC) for over four years without any investment or industry claiming to prioritize industrialization if elected? It sound funny and laughable that a man who was given the task of industrializing this state as AKIIPOC chairman for many years without any achievement coupled with a wasteful resources of the state on overseas trip could promise industrialization now because he needs people support to become governor. It therefore stands to reason that; it is either he has forgotten his past or he is only trying to play smart on the sensibility of Akwa Ibom people, and thinks he can use deception and false promises to get the governorship ticket. Instead of facing the demands of his office while in AKIIPOC, he engaged the state resources in a political struggle for supremacy and control of political structure with his brother. The history may likely repeat itself if given the opportunity come 2015. Others are just power drunk like that, except Udom Emmanuel who understands the true meaning of governance and how to separate politics from it. He understands that governance is all about serving the people with tangible evidence of achievements and leaving lasting legacies. The SSG is an eye opener to many in Akwa Ibom state who before now thought that industrialization will not be possible. His bold steps in the right direction have rekindled hope for many. This is evidence in the Petrochemical industry he has attracted to Akwa Ibom state and many others industries underway, this singular act has attracted an array of massive endorsement and supports from all and sundry he has continued to enjoy from the people of Akwa Ibom. The President and Commander-in-Chief of the Arm Forces, Dr Goodluck Jonathan who performed the foundation laying for the Petrochemical Industry had some words of appreciation for the state Governor, Chief Godswill Akpabio and the Secretary to State Government, Mr Udom Emmanuel for his ingenuity by using his relationship with the investors and encourage Quantum Energy Ltd to invest in Akwa Ibom state. He commended the SSG for showing good character of trust while working with Zenith Bank. Udom Emmanuel is one man that thinks about the people of Akwa Ibom state everyday on how to improve their welfare and social status. He relates with everybody freely not minding where he or she comes from, truly, Udom Emmanuel is a very detribalized Akwa Ibomite and a Pan Akwa Ibom man. The SSG has sacrificed and invested a lot of his personal resources in the state particularly human and capital development. Though he was not appointed to head any Ministry, Parastatal, agency or department of government that his performance could have been seen by all, permit me to note that Udom Emmanuel was the unseen hand in the much celebrated uncommon transformation today. As a professional administrator who is result oriented, the SSG is not bordered about which part of the state a person comes from provided he or she can deliver on the task that needs to be accomplished which is the hallmark of professionalism. The nepotism system of administration adopted over the years by so called on-ground politicians has robbed this state of a lot of potentials and achievements. Before now the drivers of government were giving contracts and appointments to their family members simply because the governor gave them the opportunity to do the selection. But the story is not the same today; the current driver of engine room of government believes so much in professionalism and result, not in who knows who as was the case before. This has further confirmed that truly, Udom Emmanuel is a God sent leader and a detribalized Akwa Ibom man. His plans for Akwa Ibom state is to make it an economic world power of Africa, and make the state one of the top investment driven states in the world which will attract world class investors. They will voluntarily come and invest in Akwa Ibom coupled with the massive investment of the present administration in infrastructural development. Udom Emmanuel’s vision for Akwa Ibom is to turn every parts of the state into industrial sites, locating industries base on the available raw materials. His aim is to see all kinds of industries being sited in this state to help generate employment for the teeming jobless youths in the state which will be the central focus and cardinal point of his administration. As an experienced administrator and destined leader by God, the SSG has come full with the ministerial responsibilities of his office in the last one year which has now yield tangible fruits for Akwa Ibom people to see, his sterling performance has shifted some burden off the governor and made him relax to handle other matters. The Governor has found a trusted friend and brother, and a reliable partner in Udom Emmanuel. His antecedence in resource management and investment speaks volume of his capacity and competency to govern Akwa Ibom state better. His love and passion for serving the poor and needy is unprecedented. The SSG is a lover of education which made him instituted educational empowerment foundation some years back. As a man of the people, he never stop celebrating his people every festive season especially the poor in his magnanimous way of giving generously and ensure that it gets to everyone in abundant. These outright show of generosity have endeared thousands he has touched physically to him. In fact, it has become a routine rituals in Onna Local government area long before his appointment as SSG to celebrate his people during every events. Like King Solomon who built Temple for God, Deacon Udom Emmanuel has dedicated a greater part of his resources to building of Churches and sponsored religious activities, little wonder why God has blessed him with so much wisdom and favour in his sight. As a destined leader by God who has found favour in his sight, he is loved by all including his opponents. Today the Ruling People’s Democratic Party PDP in Akwa Ibom state have not just zoned the governorship ticket of the Party in the state to Eket Senatorial District which Udom Emmanuel comes from, but with emphasis that the party’s ticket will be given to Udom Emmanuel in Eket Senatorial District; what a Godly favour and love by his people? As the 2015 governorship election gathers momentum in Akwa Ibom, the choice of who succeeds Governor Akpabio is very clear for Akwa Ibom people to see especially now that industrialization is what the people want, and this cannot be achieved by any other person apart from Udom Emmanuel. This is to say, for a sustained uncommon transformation cut across education, health, youth and sport, human capital development, infrastructural development, housing and urban renewal, agriculture, and industrial renaissance; Udom Emmanuel is the answer and the right choice as governor of Akwa Ibom state come 2015.
