UDOM FEEDS PATIENTS, PAYS HOSPITAL BILLS ON NEW YEAR DAY The Peoples Democratic Party candidate for the 2015 Governorship elections in Akwa Ibom State, Mr Udom Emmanuel has embarked on distribution of food, drinks and other consumables to the patients of various hospitals, prison inmates and detainees at police stations across the state. Mr Emmanuel made the kind gesture as part of his programme to celebrate the New Year 2015. The PDP Gubernatorial candidate who was represented on the New Year tour by a member of the Udom Emmanuel Campaign Organization, Mr Elijah Eyak said that the gesture is in line with his belief and passion to empower the less privilege in the society as well as to give everyone in the state a sense of belonging. Aside being a humanitarian gesture, the immediate past secretary to the state government said it is a sacred obligation to share the little we have in form of gifts and kind gesture in line with the teachings of the Lord Jesus. At St Luke’s Hospital, Anua in Uyo, Mr Udom Emmanuel interacted with the nurses on duty and the patients. He went from ward to ward to interact with the patients and share with them the joy of the New Year. He picked the hospital bills of a few patients and distributed food and drinks to everyone within the hospital premises. One of the beneficiaries, Mrs Affiong Joseph who received the sum of one hundred and twenty naira to offset her bills praised Mr Udom Emmanuel for his show of magnanimity. She said she was not surprised as it was the second time she had seen Udom display such generosity after she was a witness at a traditional marriage ceremony in Mbiabong, Uyo where Mr Udom Emmanuel stopped by, uninvited and gave the couple a brand new Toyota Corolla car. At the Uyo Prisons, Mr Udom Emmanuel who was received by the Comptroller of Prisons in Akwa Ibom State, Dr Regina Akpan said he seized the occasion of the New Year to extend a warm hand of fellowship to the inmates of the prison. Udom congratulated them for making it to 2015 and assured that they inmates were still members of the society. In her response, the Comptroller of Prisons in the state represented by a Deputy Comptroller thanked Mr Udom Emmanuel for specially remembering the inmates at a crucial time like now. She noted that they were pleased with his philanthropic gesture especially at a time they were battling with increasing demand for food as the prison housed over 800 prison inmates. She prayed God to bless Mr Udom Emmanuel and wished him well in his Governorship aspiration. The PDP Governorship candidate also made a stopover at various public places within the state capital including the popular Ibom Plaza to celebrate the New Year with the people. He distributed food, drinks and incentives to the members of the public. He also extended the same goodwill to patients at the VVF hospital at Mbribit Itam. At the end of the tour, the Commissioner for Finance in the State, Mr Akan Okon thanked the Udom Emmanuel Volunteers for sacrificing their New Year celebrations to help in the distribution of the materials at the various places visited. Responding Ambassador Udeme Ukai pledged on behalf on the volunteers to continue to support the candidature of Mr Udom Emmanuel till he wins at the polls. Also part of the team was former Chairman of Ukanafun LGA, Prince Nsikanabasi Umoekpo, and members of the Udom Emmanuel Campaign Organization, Mr Emmanuel Nicholas and Aniekeme Finbarr.
