UDOM’S MEN SHOW STRENGHT AT PDP HOUSE OF REPS PRIMARIES Aniekeme Finbarr / Emmanuel Nicholas, Uyo Inspired by the victory at the recently concluded PDP House of Assembly primaries, the political machinery of Mr Udom G. Emmanuel, the leading governorship aspirant in the Akwa Ibom 2015 race recorded another resounding success at the PDP House of Representatives primaries on Saturday. The Udom political structure swept the entire 10 Peoples Democratic Party (PDP) tickets in the 10 Federal Constituencies of the State. In Oron Federal Constituency, the former deputy state chairman of the Peoples Democratic Party, Hon Nse Ekpeyong thrashed the highly loquacious incumbent, Hon Robinson Uwak to pick the reps ticket. Sensing defeat, Hon Uwak hurriedly went on the facebook at about 2.57pm to announce his withdrawal from the race. “The outgoing governor of Akwa Ibom State, Chief Dr Barr Godswill Obot Akpabio CON, the uncommon transformer of Annang land this morning openly ordered delegates to the Oron Federal Constituency’s Peoples Democratic Party primaries to vote for a particular aspirant…Meanwhile barely an hour to the commencement of the primares which was fixed to hold at the Oron township stadium the outgoing governor also instructed that the primaries be taken to an undisclosed location in the state capital...Since my delegates, supporters and indeed the people of Oron Federal Constituency are unaware of the new venue of the primaries, we hereby boycott the process”. The statement read. The former Vice Chairman of Eket Senatorial District in the PDP, Hon Nse Ekpeyong went ahead to record 138 votes, followed by Mrs Alice Ekpeyong with 39 votes. Robinson Uwak came distant third with 9 paltry votes and Boyce Edubio had 5 votes. The Speaker of the Akwa Ibom House of Assembly, Elder Sam Ikon, who had earlier in the year with his colleagues endorsed Udom Emmanuel to run for the governorship won the Etinan Federal Constituency ticket defeating the incumbent Hon Dan Akpan. Another core supporter of Udom Emmanuel who won was Dr Mike Enyong. Many months back, Dr Enyong had audaciously printed his campaign posters that carried his face with that of Udom G Emmanuel and he never spared any opportunity to campaign for both himself and the governorship aspiration of Mr Udom Emmanuel. The State Provost of the Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance (ACA), the parent body engineering the campaigns of Mr Udom Emmanuel, Engr Iboro Ekanem won in Ikono/Ini Federal Constituency. The Assistant provost of Akwa Ibom Consolidation Alliance (ACA), Dr Francis Charles Uduyork won in Ikot Abasi/Mkpat Enin/Eastern Obolo Federal Constituency Elsewhere, another staunch supporter of Udom Emmanuel who emerged victorious was former local government council boss, Deaconess (Mrs) Owoideghe Ekpottai who clinched the Eket Federal Constituency ticket. Hon Emmanuel Ekon and Hon Emmanuel Ukoette brightened their chances for a second term when they both clinched the Abak Federal Constituency and Orukanam/Ukanafun Federal Constituency ticket respectively. Former Alliance for Democracy (AD) reps candidate, Dr Henry Archibong was super lucky this time to secure his PDP ticket in Itu/Ibiono Federal Constituency. Dr Archibong, a core Udom Emmanuel apostle lost the same ticket to Hon Ita Enang in controversial circumstances in 2010
