UDP leaders Message of Condolences on the demised of two party Chairmen It is with sadness, on my own behalf, and on behalf of the United Democratic Party countrywide, central committee, the senior executive committee, the youth executive and the women executive and committed UDP diaspora members. I regret to convey the sad loss of two of our strong pillars. The Wulli West Chairman, a native of Jahkunda village, Alhagie Balamin Barrow and the Chairman of the Lower River Region Baba Njie, a native of Dunbuto, Kiang West. The loss of the two formidable pillars is felt throughout the party. They have contributed immensely in their respective capacity to enhance and build democratic principles in the country. I can recall Baba Njie organising emergency meetings in the absence of his constituency MP, Alh Momodou Sanneh, meeting the needs of the Kiang West people. Baba Njies organising skills and patriotism made his compound a regular meeting point for United Democratic Party supporters. He understoond the needs of the party, and went out of his way in making sure, the spirits of the militants is always high. It is due to men like him, that the hope of having a more democratic and just Gambia will never die. Alhagie Balamin Barrow likewise always made the UDP envoys in Wulli most welcome. He will facilitate our meetings, coordinate villages and make our trips fruitful. Their demised is a big loss and I pray that, Almighty Allah bless their souls and grant them a place amongst the most honoured servants. Politics under the current environmemt is akin to biting a bullet. But we are proud to have men/women who will accept poverty and constraints to servitude. We will never forget you comrades. Rest in peace our heroes. Thank you. Lawyer Ousainu Darboe
