UDUAGHAN, MIMIKO, IMOKE BATTLE FOR SPORTZ BUSINEZZ AWARD For their immense contributions to the development of sports in the country through the provision of infrastructure, sponsorship of teams, players and hosting of the national teams, Governor Emmanuel Uduaghan, Olusegun Mimiko and Liyel Imoke are in prime position for the Governor of the Year in the second edition of the Sportz Businezz and Media Awards slated for December 7 at the prestigious Sheraton Hotel and Towers, Ikeja, Lagos. According to the Chief Executive Officer (CEO) of Hally Sports International, organizer of the event, Godwin-Spiff Sagbamah, the three sports loving governors are battling for the immeasurable contributions to the development of sports in the country. They were nominated by fans across the country through an online voting. While Delta state has played host to a number of international athletics meets in addition to sponsoring top premiership club, Warri Wolves and also provided infrastructures, Ondo State has done well in the area of grassroots sports development, sponsoring of clubs and provision of facilities. On his part, Imoke has turned Cross River to the Mecca of Nigerians sports by hosting the Super Eagles, the Golden eaglets and hosting the Obudu Mountain Race as well as developing world class sports facilities. Voting in the various categories, according to Sagbamah will end on November 3. Chairman and CEO of Channels Television, Mr. John Momohis expected to be the chairman of the award slated December 7.
