UEBERT ANGEL NAMED MOST INFLUENTIAL PERSON HARARE - Uerbet Angel Mudzanire has been named the 2013 most influential young person in Zimbabwe by the Gorindemabwe Frontier. The 35-year-old charismatic preacher is the president and founder of Spirit Embassy Ministries which was founded in the United Kingdom but is now based in Zimbabwe since 2011. Since then his church has grown and now commands thousands of worshippers during its Sunday services which are mainly characterised by miracle sessions. Angel also operates a free-to-air television channel, Miracle TV. Recently, he grabbed headlines locally and internationally when he claimed in South African magazine Drum to have resurrected 24 people. Mbada Diamonds corporate services executive George Manyaya was placed second on the annual list. Manyaya is described as a humble and dedicated young Zimbabwean who has made a mark in community relations. He has a good rapport with people of all walks of life and different backgrounds and is always willing to listen. Manyaya heads the Mbada Diamonds public relations department and has great interpersonal skills as evidenced by his relationship with the communities. He has spearheaded a lot of projects from education, health, agriculture and sport among others. He was appointed the UNWTO brand ambassador by the ministry of Tourism. Manyaya was the interface between the corporate and the ministry of Tourism and was in the committee for resource mobilisation which resulted in the successful co-hosting of the 20th session of the UNWTO general assembly by Zimbabwe and Zambia. He was appointed as chairman of the Mzansi 90 committee, a team appointed to raise funds for the Zimbabwe national soccer team and which was tasked to raise $500 000 in two weeks a task which he surpassed. Last year, Manyaya came 10th the on the list of 100 most successful young Zimbabweans. In May, Manyaya was voted outstanding public relations and marketing person of the year by the Zimbabwe National Chamber of Commerce Manicvaland chapter. Only three weeks ago, during the launch of the Mbada Diamonds Cup 2013 edition, he departed from a prepared speech and pleaded with the Premier Soccer League and clubs to consider making all gate charges for the Mbada Cup just $1 so that the majority could afford to watch the matches. He ultimately became a favourite with fans around the country and they have honoured the pledge by coming to fill up the stadiums. Angel’s close friend Emmanuel Makandiwa came in at number three. Makandiwa leads one of the biggest Pentecostal churches in Zimbabwe, the United Family International Church (UFIC). Originally a young pastor with the Apostolic Faith Mission (AFM), he founded the UFIC in the years 2008-2010. His healing sessions and prophecies, just like Angel, have won him both supporters and critics. In April 2012, tourism minister Walter Mzembi described Makandiwa as a tourist attraction, who draws huge crowds to his congregations. In mid-2012, Makandiwa was featured on the 50 Most Influential Africans List compiled by the Zimbabwean Kubatana.net based on a poll among their readers. Other prominent figures that made it into the list include Econometer Global Capital founder Chris Mugaga (4), singer Wallace “Winky D” Chirumiko (6), Kirsty Coventry (7), MDC organising secretary Nelson Chamisa (13), Zanu PF deputy director of information Psychology Maziwisa (20) and raunchy dancer Beverly Sibanda (100). The Gorindemabwe Frontier says its mandate is to inspire thought leadership in Africa. The organisation claims that the project of recognizing the 100 Most Influential Young Zimbabweans is to raise the next generation of heroes in the country. Gorindemabwe Frontier organization releases the list annually. Daily News
