UFS, the United Filipino Seafarers is now on its 20th year from its humble beginning under a tree at the Luneta. Since that day, December, 12 1994, UFS had embarked on its journey to protect and promote the welfare of sea-based professionals. UFS is considered as a dragon slayer among illegal recruiters, abusive manning agencies and ship-owners, owners of sub-standards schools, and other groups and individuals involved in anomalous activities in the industry. UFS also honors and gives tribute to the organizations and individuals who has rendered valuable contributions to the sector. It has institutionalized the Tinig ng Marino Awards, which is now widely-recognized as one of the more prestigious honor-giving bodies in the local maritime industry.
